Amelia Margaret Photography began in 2016 during one of those quiet, late-night moments that stay with you. While rocking my infant to sleep, my eyes landed on a box of baby wipes featuring a sweet baby posed on a soft blanket. I remember thinking, “Every family should be able to have photos like that.” That simple thought sparked the beginning of something much bigger.
I debated for a while on how to go about making photography more accessible to others. I struggled because I know many talented professional photographers that make a living off of their beautiful work. I worried greatly about taking away from their business and livelihood. I didn't want to seem like I was trying to "under-cut" them or make light of the hard work that goes into being a professional photographer. It involves constant learning, a lot of time, and so much money.
After much thought, the “pay what you can” campaign was born. I was able to provide photos for an amazing four years under the busniess model that clients simply offer what they could afford in exchange for their photo package. People are truly amazing if you just believe. I was able to provide that service for SO MANY people.
It was an incredible journey and I still plan on offering those "Pay what you can" sessions on certain dates of the year. I still truly believe that everyone deserves access to photography that is beautiful and stress-free but it's time now to further invest in updated equipment and continue to learn and improve my craft.
