What to expect from your family photo session with Amelia Margaret Photography

Thank you for choosing Amelia Margaret as your family photographer. Below is a detailed look at what to expect all the way from booking to printing your beautiful new family photos!

Message me:

Message me to book your date. I require a $10 non-refundable booking fee to hold your appointment time. This can be paid via PayPal, Venmo, Apple Pay, Cash, or Check. It will be used towards your final payment, due at the end of your session.

I like to shoot close to sunset or sunrise to avoid too much sun. Too much bright light can lead to squinty eyes, blown out whites, and weird shadows. I shoot on both weekends and weekdays within a 60 minute radius of Lapeer, MI. A small travel fee applies if farther. Let me know what you prefer for your family shoot!

Choose a Location:

Pick a location with me! If you're struggling for ideas on where you would like your shoot to take place, send me a message! What kind of family photos have you seen that you loved? Do you have a Pinterest board? Share some images with me and I can suggest the perfect location for your family photo shoot.

Outfits:

Plan your outfits. Coordinating your clothing or treating the family to new outfits can make a huge difference in your photos. Google "Family Photo clothing ideas" and you'll find a lot of photography clients prefer staying in the same color family with their outfits but not matching completely. There's typically a mixture of pants and dresses/skirts. Some people wear a cardigan in the photo while others don't. This not only creates texture, but also if everyone is wearing the same color pants with nearly identical shirts, you might end up looking like a singular blob.

I will contact you the week of your session to double check our plan and the weather together!

The Day of your Session:

On the day of your family photos we will meet at the chosen location. We'll have a lot of fun and try to move kind of quickly to keep everyone happy! I do plan on an hour of time, just in case we need to take a break. Believe me, I have two kids of my own and I know photos don't always go as smooth as we hope! But I'm patient and we will get ADORABLE photos no matter what!

Payment:

Payment is due at the end of your session. I believe everyone deserves nice photos. That's why I offer a range of packages to fit any budget. Packages range from mini to premium. Refer to your contract for specific pricing.

Editing:

I'll edit your images and do some very light and natural retouching. I choose the sharpest, nicest photos from your session for you. We don't want blurry images or one eye closed! I will send you proofs to select from and then I will fine-tune edit once you confirm your selection with me.

Image Delivery:

I will send you a link to your images. Expect a couple of teasers within a few days after your family portrait appointment. The rest will take a week or two depending on how full my schedule is. Fall can be super busy!

Printing:

Share and print your photos wherever you like. You do not have to order through my online store, but it is encouraged. Here's a great blog showing the difference! There are some common printing labs that turn out better than others. Contact me for printing tips and preferred locations.
